VIERA, Fla. - Reliever Cla Meredith, who cut a workout short for the second time this spring yesterday, is still having trouble with his elbow after offseason surgery to remove bone chips. He already had an MRI on his elbow this spring, and is undergoing more tests.
“We’re going to get some results back later today,” manager Jim Riggleman said. “I’m sure he’s really down in the dumps about it. Hopefully it’s minor irritation that we can get over and he can pitch, but we’re not going to know here for a little while.”
The sidearm-throwing reliever had surgery for the first time during the offseason, and would now seem to be in danger of missing more time early this spring. The Nationals are interested in taking a look at him because his arm action can make him tough for hitters to figure out, but they might not get a chance to see him enough this spring to give him a chance.
