Jayson Werth back in Nationals lineup, but Zimmerman still out

VIERA, Fla. - After sitting out the Nationals’ 100-mile road trip to Jupiter yesterday with soreness in his legs, outfielder Jayson Werth is back in the team’s lineup today - or, at least, he will be if there’s a game played at Space Coast Stadium.

Manager Jim Riggleman said Werth told trainers he was ready to play today, and he will start in right field if the field is dry. But it’s currently pouring in Viera, and Riggleman said he wouldn’t play Werth if the field is wet.

Ryan Zimmerman, on the other hand, is sitting out for the third straight game with a slight abdominal strain. He’ll hit in the batting cages today, but Riggleman said he wouldn’t start Zimmerman in either of the Nationals’ split squad games today.
