Ivan Rodriguez back in lineup as Nationals face Braves

A day after Nationals manager Jim Riggleman said he planned to alternate Ivan Rodriguez and Wilson Ramos behind the plate, he’s sticking with his rotation. Rodriguez is back at catcher today, as the Nationals finish their series with the Atlanta Braves at 1:35 p.m.

The Nationals will try to win the series by beating one of their most frequent tormentors: Braves right-hander Tim Hudson. The 35-year-old has a 10-2 lifetime record against the Nationals with a 1.91 ERA. His numbers dipped against the Nationals last year (he had a 2.88 ERA against them in five starts), but that’s mostly because of a Sept. 24 outing where the Nationals tagged him for six runs in 5 2/3 innings. Other than that, he allowed four earned runs in 28 2/3 innings against them.

The addition of Jayson Werth might give the Nationals some hope for better luck against Hudson; he’s got a .981 OPS against Hudson in 21 career plate appearances.
