Nationals beat Mets 4-3

The Nationals ended their three-game losing streak on Thursday night, beating the Mets 4-3 in a game they simply needed to have. Ian Desmond tripled, homered and scored two runs, and Drew Storen converted his fourth straight save.

Livan Hernandez allowed three runs in eight innings for the victory.

The Nationals won just two of six games against the Pirates and Mets - an opportunity missed before a 13-game stretch with the Giants, Phillies, Braves and Marlins. But if they’d blown another late lead after last night’s loss and on the eve of a matchup with Tim Lincecum, it would’ve been even harder to take.

The Nationals improved to 11-13 with the win. More from the clubhouse in a little bit.
