The Nationals have officially made a roster move to put Brian Bixler on their 40-man roster; they designated reliever Lee Hyde, whom they claimed on waivers from the Atlanta Braves this spring, for assignment. Bixler is now on the 40-man roster, and he’ll give the Nationals some infield inventory for when Ian Desmond goes on paternity leave.
Hyde, who had an 11.05 ERA in six relief appearances at Triple-A Syracuse, will now go on waivers. And Garrett Mock, who went on the disabled list this morning with a groin injury after walking seven batters in each of his last two starts, stays on the 40-man roster. Mock, of course, spent almost the entire season on the disabled list last year with a neck injury, canceling the option the Nationals were going to use to send him to the minors after one start in the majors last year.
