Nationals take 1-0 lead on Hairston Jr.’s homer

We’re in the second inning of the second game between the Nationals and Brewers at Nationals Park, and the Nationals have a 1-0 lead after Jerry Hairston Jr.’s first homer of the year.

Yes, Hairston just hit a homer.

So if you’re keeping track, the Nationals have four homers today from Danny Espinosa, Ian Desmond (who didn’t have a hit at Nationals Park before today), Ivan Rodriguez (who hit six in his previous 523 at-bats) and Hairston (who had one hit this year before the homer).

Livan Hernandez is cruising early, having given up one hit (to pitcher Marco Estrada) in the first three innings. The Nationals beat the Brewers’ best pitcher, Yovani Gallardo, in Game 1, and they’re facing Estrada - an ex-Nationals farmhand - in Game 2. They’ve got a great shot to sweep.
