Brewers pulling away from Nationals

MILWAUKEE - In his last three starts before tonight’s game, Tom Gorzelanny had given up four homers. He’s allowed almost that many tonight.

Corey Hart, who hadn’t homered all season before tonight, blasted his second of the game off Gorzelanny in the fifth inning, and Jonathan Lucroy followed with a base hit later in the inning after Ryan Braun’s ground rule double. The Brewers now lead the Nationals 6-1 in the top of the sixth inning.

Gorzelanny hasn’t had much movement on his fastball for much of the evening, and he’s paid for it against an aggressive fastball-hitting team. But he’s been struggling for his last several starts, and for the third outing in a row, he’s failed to make it through the sixth inning.

Henry Rodriguez will pitch the sixth inning for the Nationals, who would be guaranteed a losing road trip if they lost tonight.
