SAN DIEGO - The Nationals lost 7-3 to the Padres on Thursday night, in what might be one of their flattest efforts of the season.
They ran themselves out of a run in the first inning, and made another out on the basepaths in the fifth. Livan Hernandez started the sixth by giving up three straight hits, and the Nationals’ bullpen walked five batters in 2 2/3 innings of work.
It all added up to a defeat that dropped the Nationals to nine games under .500, matching their low point this season.
More from the clubhouse in a little bit.
