Phillies-Nationals in rain delay (updated)

This is not to be confused with my post of the same headline on Friday night. But we’re in another rain delay.

The Nationals and Phillies, who have been playing under threatening skies and jagged lightning for the last couple innings, went into a rain delay at 3:17. This is the only storm in the forecast today, but it could be nasty for a little bit.

The Phillies still lead 3-2 in the sixth inning. Home plate umpire Jerry Meals halted play while Chien-Ming Wang was in the middle of his windup on a 1-1 pitch to Raul Ibanez.

Stay tuned for updates on the weather.

Update at 4:06 p.m.: The tarp is off the field, and pitchers are heading out to warm up. They’re calling for a 4:30 p.m. restart, and when play resumes, it looks like Tom Gorzelanny will relieve Wang.
