Stephen Strasburg will make the second start of his rehab assignment at Single-A Potomac on Friday night, the P-Nats announced this afternoon. Strasburg, who threw 31 pitches in 1 2/3 innings on Sunday, is on his way back from Tommy John surgery.
He’ll pitch at Pfitzner Stadium for the first time after going straight to Double-A Harrisburg last year; the Senators are also home on Friday, but the Nationals will give Strasburg a more gradual step forward in his second game since his operation last Sept. 3.
The guess here is that Strasburg will likely throw three innings or 45 pitches, whichever comes first.
The gates to Pfitzner Stadium will open at 5 p.m., and the first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a ticket for a raffle to win Strasburg’s autographed game-worn jersey, the P-Nats said in a press release. The first 1,000 fans will also get an Ian Desmond bobblehead.
