The Nationals and Mets have played two innings, and already, it looks like the Nationals will have their work cut out for them. Ross Detwiler has given up a pair of home runs, and the Mets have a 4-1 lead over Washington.
It’s the third straight night a Nationals starter has given up two homers, and for Detwiler, it’s the second straight game where he’s struggled. He allowed eight hits in six innings in his last start, though he was hurt by his defense that night in Cincinnati. But Detwiler hasn’t been able to follow up on a pair of strong starts and turn it into something consistent.
Michael Morse has driven in the Nationals’ only run so far, reaching out for an 0-1 pitch and lining it to center for a RBI single in the bottom of the first.
