With Stephen Strasburg on the mound for the second time this season, the Nationals cruised to an easy win over the Astros. It wasn’t exactly how the Nationals planned the day, but the result is exactly what they’d hoped for.
Despite Strasburg throwing just three innings after needing 31 pitches to get through the first, the Nationals held Houston to two runs on seven hits, and got a comfortable lead after hitting back-to-back-to-back homers in the third inning.
Tom Gorzelanny got the win for the Nationals, who moved within three wins of surpassing last year’s total. Ian Desmond, Rick Ankiel and Ryan Zimmerman homered for the Nationals, and Chris Marrero drove in a pair of runs.
More from the clubhouse in a little bit.
