The Nationals took advantage of a David Wright error in the third inning, getting a couple of two-out hits from Michael Morse and Jayson Werth to take a 2-0 lead over the Mets. Peacock has only allowed a walk so far, and has thrown a solid 47 pitchers through three innings. Thirty of his first 47 pitches have been fastballs, but he’s thrown an impressive knuckle curve six times, and mixed in 11 changeups. He’s got a good 10-mph separation between his fastball and changeup, and his breaking ball gives him another put-away pitch.
With an early lead, Peacock has a chance to win his debut, and the Nationals are setting themselves up to get their 70th win of the year.
