The Nats' lineup for tonight's game against the Dodgers is out, so here you go:
No Ryan Zimmerman again today, as Jim Riggleman said last night. The Nationals will face Dodgers knuckleballer Charlie Haeger tonight.
A couple other things:
--Jason Bergmann is on waivers, and will learn his fate sometime soon. The Nationals could release him or send him to the minors if another team doesn't claim him off waivers; general manager Mike Rizzo said last week, though, the team did not plan to release Bergmann. That would likely mean he'd go to Triple-A Syracuse if he's not claimed.
--I heard the Nationals are still talking periodically with Adam Dunn's representatives about a contract extension, though those talks haven't yielded anything substantive yet. The Nationals are not worried about the pace of extension talks; they still can negotiate with him in the off-season, if all else fails, and Dunn's slow start has not affected the first baseman's chances of getting a contract whatsoever. It's likely the lack of any imminent deadline is behind the sluggish pace; neither side needs to move quickly to get anything done, and neither wants to be the first to move. That's how these things typically work, and the Nationals have time to pick things up.
Back with more from the ballpark this afternoon.
