Nats-Cubs thru seven: Lannan settles down, game tied

The Nationals and Cubs are tied at three after six innings, and much of that has to do with John Lannan's ability to settle down during the middle innings. He retired six of seven in the fourth and fifth innings, giving the Nationals a chance to tie the game up on Wil Nieves' RBI single.

Lannan got better control of his fastball just as Carlos Silva started to falter, and did what he does so well: When he's having a bad night, he's still able to make adjustments and minimize the damage. Tonight, that meant staying away from breaking pitches that weren't working well in the wind.

The Nationals have a chance to take the lead in the top of the eighth with Cristian Guzman, Adam Dunn and Josh Willingham coming up.
