The Nationals are still up 3-2 on the Cubs after six innings, with Luis Atilano wriggling out of a jam in the fifth and getting a 1-2-3 sixth. He's pitched far enough into the game that the Nationals have a chance to get through the final three innings with their top relievers and win the series.
Atilano, after spending too much time nibbling around the plate in the first three innings, started pitching inside more in the middle innings and was rewarded with some weak ground balls to the right side of the infield. The one he got to end the fifth, a roller to Adam Dunn at first, led to a close play at first and a fist pump from the right-hander after he barely beat Mike Fontenot to the bag.
He's done after six innings with another quality start, and the Nationals have a chance to go two games above .500
