Atilano already done

It's 5-0 Tigers in the fifth inning, and Luis Atilano is out of the game. He's become the second Nationals starter in this series not to make it out of the fifth inning, and the third not to register a quality start.

Atilano has failed to hit that threshold in eight of his last 10 starts, and it's worth asking how much longer he'll be in the majors. He gets out of jams, but hasn't been able to make adjustments the second time through the order.

So the Nationals look like they're heading for a sweep, and will be asking Stephen Strasburg to stop another losing streak tomorrow. Provided they lose this game, this will be the longest streak they'll have asked Strasburg to end, after he's already halted a pair of two-game skids. That's a dangerous pattern to fall into with a pitcher that's going to have limited innings come August.
