Just wanted to give you the heads-up on a few things we've got cooking for the first day of the First-Year Player Draft tomorrow. We've got a pretty full slate of coverage in different forms, which I think you'll enjoy.
The big piece of our day is the online draft day radio show we've got planned from 2 p.m.- 5 p.m. Byron Kerr will host the Nationals talk portion of the program from 2-3:30. During that time, Tim Chambers (Bryce Harper's coach at the College of Southern Nevada) is scheduled to call in, as is Nationals reliever Drew Storen. We'll also have an interview with Baseball America's Jim Callis, and I'll check in for a segment at some point during the day. And we'll take some of your phone calls about the draft. We'll pick up some Orioles draft talk from 3:30-5 p.m.
Online, I'll have a draft preview including some thoughts from general manager Mike Rizzo and scouting director Kris Kline. And all that leads up to the 7 p.m. start of the draft, when the Nationals are expected to make Harper the No. 1 pick a few minutes after the top of the hour. I'll be at Nationals Park and have all the news and reaction from there.
You can call in beginning at 2 p.m. at 914-338-0105. Should be a fun day.
