Midway through the second day of the draft, the Nationals have added five more players to go with first-rounder Bryce Harper and second-rounder Sammy Solis. Four of them are college players, and two of them are shortstops.
In the third round, the Nationals took Rice shortstop Rick Hague, who played for the U.S. National Team last summer. The fourth-round pick was high school left-hander A.J. Cole, an intriguing 6-foot-4 hurler who throws a 94-mph fastball and a sharp slurve. MLB's scouting report had Cole as the second-best high school pitcher in the draft.
They grabbed Texas State shortstop Jason Martinson in the fifth round, took Georgia Tech catcher Cole Leonida in the sixth and Texas right fielder Kevin Keyes in the seventh.
More to come later.
