In last night's 2-1 win over the Royals, Jim Riggleman pointed to Ryan Zimmerman's three walks as a sign the third baseman was coming out of his long slump. It appears he might have been right.
Zimmerman has two hits in two at-bats so far tonight, including a double into the left-field corner that put the Nationals up 1-0 over the Royals. That's where the game sits in the middle of the fourth inning.
With Cristian Guzman on first, Zimmerman lashed a ball to left that Scott Podsednik couldn't fish out of the corner, and Guzman scored easily for the only run. Luis Atilano has looked good through four innings, striking out four. He's had a good two-seamer tonight, and has only gotten into one jam, in the second inning.
