Stephen Strasburg just keeps rolling.
He's got nine strikeouts through five innings here at Nationals Park, and has broken J.R. Richard's record for strikeouts in the first three starts of his career. He has 31, and though the Nationals still trail 1-0, it's Strasburg's show.
He's continued to rely heavily on his changeup tonight to keep the White Sox at bay, and when they haven't struck out, they've complied by swinging early in counts. Strasburg has thrown just 56 pitches in five innings, 42 of them strikes. Again, that's astounding for a pitcher who strikes out as many guys as he does.
Assuming Strasburg winds up between 90 and 100 pitches, he's got a shot to pitch into the eighth or ninth inning here.
