Recapping Strasburg's final minor league start

Stephen Strasburg finished his day at Syracuse - and presumably, his minor league career - with five shutout innings. He allowed three hits, walked one, struck out five and threw one wild pitch. He also went 1-for-2 and scored a run, and hit 99 mph on the gun.

Strasburg threw 89 pitches, 54 of them for strikes. He got into a couple of jams. The first was in the third inning, when he walked pitcher Dillon Gee - giving the home-plate umpire a little glare as a close pitch went for ball four - and allowed a single to left. But Strasburg got a flyout to end the inning.

In the fifth, he gave up a couple singles, but threw a nasty 1-2 curve to strike out Gee looking and got Jesus Feliciano to ground out to second.

The No. 1 overall pick will make his major-league debut on Tuesday at Nationals Park against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Game time is at 7:05 p.m. MASN2 and MASN2 HD will have the broadcast.
