Stephen Strasburg continues to dazzle at Nationals Park in his debut. He's struck out 11 batters through six, and what's more, he's only thrown 78 pitches. For a strikeout pitcher to work that efficiently is really impressive. His only mistake came on the changeup he threw to Delwyn Young, who hit it for a two-run homer in the fourth. But Adam Dunn just answered with a mammoth blast to the second deck in right, and the Nationals lead 3-2.
Strasburg could start the seventh - the Nationals' bullpen is quiet - and on his final pitch of the fifth inning to Jeff Karstens, he hit 101 mph. He looks every bit the real deal in his debut, though the changeup clearly looks like his third-best pitch (which it is).
But Dunn blasted a high Karstens fastball to right, scoring two, and now Strasburg will have a shot at a win in his first big-league start.
