His major league debut already on the schedule, Stephen Strasburg makes his final minor league start at Triple-A Syracuse today. MASN and MASN HD will have the game on tape delay tonight at 7:00 p.m.
Strasburg is coming off his worst outing at Syracuse, though even that one wasn't terrible. He gave up three runs in five innings, allowing a home run on an elevated fastball, and surrendered six hits.
I'm not sure what's left for Strasburg to do in his final minor league outing; he still needs to throw more strikes at times and can continue to work on the plane of his fastball, particularly his four-seamer.
But mostly, this is just a final tuneup before his June 8 debut against the Pirates, which will continue to be bathed in hype between now and Tuesday. Game time in Buffalo is 1:05 p.m.
General manager Mike Rizzo said on Sunday that Strasburg would throw six innings or 95 pitches, whichever comes first. The weather forecast shows thunderstorms for later in the afternoon, but everything should be fine for the start of the game, and if Strasburg gets some work in before any rain comes, he's on track for Tuesday.
