Thursday lineups, pregame news

Good afternoon (well, I guess it's evening now) from Nationals Park. Here are the lineups for tonight's series finale against the Pirates:

Pirates:

Tabata - LF
Walker - 2B
McCutchen - CF
Jones - RF
Doumit - 1B
Crosby - SS
LaRoche - 3B
Jaramillo - C
Duke - P

Nationals:

Guzman - 2B
Desmond - SS
Dunn - 1B
Zimmerman - 3B
Willingham - LF
Rodriguez - C
Morse - RF
Bernadina - CF
Hernandez - P

Just a night off for Nyjer Morgan; manager Jim Riggleman said he wants to make sure the center fielder doesn't get in the range of 650 at-bats this season. Morgan had a rough night in the field last night, but I'd assume Riggleman will keep him in the lineup most nights during the Nationals' six-game interleague road trip, since their bench gets a bat shorter during those games.

Riggleman also said he'd like Roger Bernadina, who's in center field tonight, to get a couple hundred at-bats, so the Nationals can definitively say if he's the answer in right field or if he's not. Bernadina has hit safely in six of seven games this month, and is batting .360 in that stretch. That's essentially what the Nationals have been doing with Bernadina the last few weeks, but the topic came up in light of the possibility the Nationals might look outside the organization for a right fielder.
