I'm very curious to hear what the announced attendance is for tonight's game, and how many people actually show up. As you know, tonight was the night speculated in various media outlets - including this one on occasion, though not exclusively and not nearly as strong as some others - that Stephen Strasburg would make his major-league debut. That led to a ticket-buying frenzy, and when news came out that Strasburg would instead pitch June 8, it led to a sell-off of Wall Street proportions.
Looking on now, there are some unbelievable deals for tonights' game - seats selling for a third or a quarter of their face value. Never mind the fact that the Nationals-Reds game features a first-place club and the best Nationals team in this town in five years (current slump notwithstanding) - people wanted to see Strasburg, and now they've trying to cover some losses.
My advice? It's a nice day, there's a good pitching matchup tonight (Aaron Harang and Livan Hernandez). It's not Strasburg, but it's still big-league baseball at a good price. Pick up some tickets, and use the money you save to get into the bidding frenzy for June 8.
And if you want to yell at a media member for the speculation - or for the Black Eyed Peas-inspired title of this post - I can take it.
