Welcome to MASN's discussion space for today's game between the Nationals and Mets. I'll probably be a little sparse on the in-game updates for the first few innings - I'm hacking away at a feature on Matt Capps, who made his first All-Star team today, but I'll join you in greater frequency once that's posted, and in the meantime, you can discuss the game in the comments section.
4:08 p.m.: In what's been an ugly day so far for the Nationals, they trail 8-3 in the seventh inning. Craig Stammen lasted just 3 1/3 innings, and allowed seven runs one start after giving up two in 7 1/3 innings. Stammen is rarely consistent two starts in a row, and it's why he hasn't established himself in the majors yet. The Nationals scored three runs in the sixth against Mets starter Hisanori Takahashi, but left the bases loaded. And now that they have the pitcher batting sixth and Willie Harris hitting ninth while playing right field, they essentially have four ineffective hitters in their lineup.
