The Nationals will debut their new Hall of Fame Ring of Honor before Tuesday's game, when they also honor former Expos outfielder (and newly enshrined Hall of Famer) Andre Dawson. Nationals Daily News had a full list of the names, and a few pictures of how they look in the stadium.
The full list of 18 includes players and owners from the Expos, Homestead Grays and Washington Senators. All 18 have been enshrined in the Hall of Fame. It's one of the only in-stadium mentions of the Expos, who are mostly absent from in-stadium signage, and it creates an even stronger tie to the Grays and Senators, who the Nationals have honored extensively in the ballpark and on throwback jersey days.
Here's the list of 18 names, per Nationals Daily News:
--From the Expos: Dawson and Gary Carter
--From the Grays: Cool Papa Bell, Ray Brown, Josh Gibson, Buck Leonard, Cumberland Posey and Jud Wilson
--From the Senators: Joe Cronin, Rick Ferrell, Goose Goslin, Clark Griffith, Bucky Harris, Walter Johnson, Harmon Killebrew, Heinie Manush, Sam Rice and Early Wynn.
Personally, I think it's a very cool touch, and I love the mention of the Expos alongside the Grays and Senators. Any other thoughts on the list? What do you think of the inclusion of the Expos -- or for that matter, the inclusion of the Grays and Senators when they weren't officially part of the franchise? Let me know.
