Affiliates update: Potomac clinches, Syracuse out, Harrisburg on the brink

One of the Nationals' affiliates clinched a playoff spot on Saturday - Single-A Potomac wrapped up the Carolina League's second-half championship with a 2-0 shutout of Kinston in the first game of a doubleheader. Trevor Holder, the Nationals' third-round pick in 2009, threw six shutout innings, and league MVP Tyler Moore put the Nationals up for good in the first inning.

Triple-A Syracuse, though, won't be making good on its long-shot bid for the International League playoffs. The Chiefs lost 8-2 to Rochester on Saturday night, eliminating them from a playoff bid. They needed to win out and have Louisville lose all three of its remaining games to set up a one-game playoff.

And at Double-A Harrisburg, things are no different than they were yesterday. The Senators are tied with Bowie for the final playoff spot in the Eastern League after falling 3-2 to Binghamton on Saturday. They have two games left with Binghamton before a possible playoff with Bowie. Ryan Tatusko, who has been impressive since the Nationals acquired him from the Rangers in the Cristian Guzman trade, starts for the Senators on Sunday.
