Livan Hernandez, in addition to having his second strong outing against the Braves in a month, is doing a little extra to help his own cause tonight. Hernandez sent a line shot to left field off Jair Jurrjens in the fourth inning, putting the Nationals up 4-0 over the Braves. That's where they sit after the sixth, with Hernandez working on a shutout.
Hernandez is 2-for-3 tonight, and has driven in two of the Nationals' four runs; he brought in Nyjer Morgan with a base hit in the second inning, shortly after Adam Dunn's mammoth homer put the Nationals up 2-0. He has thrown 90 pitches through six innings, and could get one more inning before coming out. The Nationals, meanwhile, knocked Jurrjens out after five innings, tagging a pitcher who's had plenty of success against them lately.
If they can hold on, they would snap a six-game losing streak.
