Sluggish Nats offense can't solve Marlins' Sanchez

Another sluggish offensive showing by the Nationals, who managed only four hits against Marlins right-hander Anibal Sanchez in 7 2/3 innings and wasted a strong effort by starting pitcher Jason Marquis in a 4-1 loss to Florida on Saturday afternoon.

Marquis went six innings, allowed two runs on five hits, walked one and struck out eight. The strikeout total is a season-high for Marquis - and matched the total from his previous five starts combined.

The Nationals got within 3-1 in the eighth, when they knocked out Sanchez, who no-hit them through 4 2/3 innings. With two outs, Nyjer Morgan reached on an infield single, then advanced to second on Sanchez's wild pickoff throw and scored on a Wilson Ramos double to center. Jose Veras relieved and got pinch hitter Willie Harris to ground out to first, stranding pinch runner Justin Maxwell.

Heading down to the clubhouse now, and will check in with a postgame recap shortly.
