As we discussed this morning, Jordan Zimmermann's big bugaboo this yearhas been home runs. The right-hander came into the night having allowed seven in six starts. That's continued early tonight.
Ike Davis just launched a solo shot to right center off Zimmermann, putting the Mets up 1-0 in the fourth inning. Zimmermann threw a fastball at 89 mph, high in the zone and on the inside half of the plate. For a hitter like Davis, that's too appetizing a pitch not to get hit out, and he banged it off a shed above the Mets' bullpen.
The Nationals have two hits off Pat Misch, from Ian Desmond and Justin Maxwell, but haven't been able to get anything else going.
