The Nationals will be represented in the Arizona Fall League's Rising Stars Game by two players - outfielder Michael Burgess and right-handed pitcher Cole Kimball. The elite prospect league announced teams for this Saturday's game, which takes place at 9:06 p.m. Eastern time at Surprise Stadium.
Since each major league team had to have at least one player in the game, I'm guessing there was some mixing and matching that had to happen to set the rosters. Burgess is hitting just .244 in the AFL, while catcher Derek Norris has a .300 average, 1.263 OPS, three homers and 14 RBI. But Kimball has been impressive; he has a 1.29 ERA in six appearances, and has struck out seven batters in seven innings.
As of right now, there's no Bryce Harper in the game, and unless something changes before Saturday, the 18-year-old won't be playing.
