KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Adam LaRoche, who was scratched from last night's lineup with shoulder soreness, should return to the Nationals' lineup Monday, manager Jim Riggleman said.
Riggleman said he didn't know what the results of LaRoche's shoulder MRI were, but the Nationals feel good enough about his health to put him back in the lineup against the Braves. He should be ready to go for Thursday's regular season opener, also against Atlanta.
If there's any effect from LaRoche's shoulder, Riggleman said, it might be in the way the Nationals configure a couple of their relay throws. "If he continued to feel tender, we would just send (Danny) Espinosa out as the lead guy on every relay," Riggleman said. "There's a couple plays where the first baseman is the lead guy and the second baseman is the trailer. We would just have him be the trailer on all those."
