Nationals agree to contracts with 18 players, renew Clippard and Zimmermann

VIERA, Fla. - The Nationals announced this morning that they've agreed to contracts with 18 players on their 40-man roster for the 2011 season, and have renewed the contracts of pitchers Tyler Clippard and Jordan Zimmermann. All of the players on the Nationals' 40-man roster are now signed for 2011.

Clippard and Zimmermann's contracts were renewed because the Nationals could not agree to terms with either player. Because they have less than three years of service time (like all of the players the Nationals signed today), the team can simply renew the players' contracts from the 2010 season.

Here are the other players the Nationals signed: left-handed pitchers Ross Detwiler and Atahualpa Severino, right-handed pitchers Collin Balester, Brian Broderick, Adam Carr, Cole Kimball, Garrett Mock, Elvin Ramirez, Henry Rodriguez, Craig Stammen and Drew Storen, catcher Wilson Ramos, infielders Ian Desmond, Danny Espinosa and Chris Marrero, and outfielders Roger Bernadina, Corey Brown and Nyjer Morgan
