Nationals fall 3-2 to Marlins in 10 innings

MIAMI - The Nationals' 3-2 loss to the Marlins tonight played out like so many of their other ones in Sun Life Stadium: hopeful in the beginning, bizarre in the middle and hard to swallow in the end.

After Jayson Werth called off Danny Espinosa on an easy pop fly, leading to an error in right field, the Marlins loaded the bases, then got a two-out single from Donnie Murphy to left to beat the Nationals 3-2 in 10 innings.

Drew Storen takes the loss, and Sean Burnett, who nearly pulled the Nationals out of a bases-loaded situation that required them to use a five-man infield to get the second out, gave up the winning hit, scoring an unearned run.

Plenty more on this one coming, from what's likely to be a quiet clubhouse.
