Update: The Nationals have beaten the Pirates to end a three-game skid. The game ended with Jayson Werth throwing out Andrew McCutchen at home plate.
PITTSBURGH - We're heading into the top of the seventh here at PNC Park, and the Nationals' lead over the Pirates has been cut to two runs - the Pirates rallied for two in the fourth before Adam LaRoche hit his third homer of the year, rounding the plate to a round of boos from Pirates fans who are apparently upset with the former Pittsburgh first baseman for some reason I can't understand.
But the Nationals enter the last three innings of a game with a lead for the first time since Tuesday, and they'll have a chance to use their best relievers (Tyler Clippard, Drew Storen and Sean Burnett).
Jason Marquis got through six innings, despite not having great stuff on the mound; he's allowed eight hits, but has still gotten 12 groundouts against three flyouts. He'll exit with a quality start, and Clippard will pitch the seventh.
