With Tom Gorzelanny heading to the 15-day disabled list with left elbow inflammation, the Nationals will call up reliever Collin Balester to take his spot on the roster, for at least a day. They'll need a starter to take Gorzelanny's place tomorrow, but the right-hander gives them another reliever today.
Balester is in the Nationals Park outfield at the moment, working out with the team, though the roster move has not been officially announced yet.
He was called up once earlier this year, and had an 8.10 ERA in three appearances. He'd posted a 3.71 ERA in 13 appearances at Triple-A Syracuse.
