As good as the Nationals felt about their 2-1 walk-off win over the Padres on Friday night, they were right back in a hole on Saturday afternoon, losing another game by a run when they couldn't score.
They fell by the same score to San Diego on Saturday, losing a game where Michael Morse - who had homered in four straight games - snuffed out two scoring threats with bookend double plays in the first and ninth innings and Jayson Werth misplayed a fly ball that led to the Padres' first run. Jordan Zimmermann lost his second straight outing where he'd only allowed two runs.
The Nationals are back to seven games under .500 with the loss, and missed a chance to pad their record against the last-place Padres. They'll try to win the series tomorrow afternoon.
More from the clubhouse in a little bit.
