The Nationals are coming off a key 3-2 victory over the Marlins on Friday night, but they'll have their work cut out for them trying to guarantee a rare series win at Sun Life Stadium. Marlins pitcher Chris Volstad's success against many of the Nationals' hitters is well-documented (of the hitters in their lineup tonight, only Adam LaRoche and Ian Desmond have OPSes over .800 against him), though he hasn't posted a quality start against Washington since last May. Still, the right-hander is a tough matchup for many of the Nationals' hitters, and a good test for a struggling offense.
Tom Gorzelanny is on the mound for the Nationals tonight, trying to turn in another good start after his eight shutout innings against the Giants on Monday. He's gotten a little better each time out, and has quietly been one of the more impressive pitchers in the Nationals' rotation. Only three Marlins hitters have faced him - Wes Helms, Hanley Ramirez and Omar Infante - and Infante has a 1.125 OPS against him in eight plate appearances.
