SAN DIEGO - The Nationals got one hit after the fourth inning of tonight's game with the Padres. They got two after the first inning. And it didn't matter.
For the second straight night, the Nationals overcame their lack of offense to beat another team with an anemic lineup, winning 2-1 against the Padres after beating them by the same score Friday night.
John Lannan, who allowed a run on six hits in 6 1/3 innings, has given up just two earned runs in his last 26 1/3 innings. For the second straight night, the Nationals' bullpen finished the game with scoreless work, with Drew Storen earning his 14th save of the season after freezing Chris Denorfia with a slider to end the game on a called third strike.
The Nationals will go for the series win - and a 6-5 road trip - tomorrow afternoon. More from the clubhouse in a little bit.
