PHOENIX - Good morning from Chase Field (or good afternoon, back on the East Coast). I flew to Phoenix this morning, and have just set up shop in the press box, where I'll be for the next three days of All-Star Game festivities.
Let's get a couple things out of the way first: It's hot. But it's true what they say - it's a dry heat. I'd take this over Houston in July - or, for that matter, what you're going to have in the District this week - any time. And here, they've got a roof.
The All-Star Futures Game is first up on the list of events this week; that starts at 6 p.m. Eastern time, and Bryce Harper and Brad Peacock will be playing for the U.S. team. I'm heading down to the clubhouse momentarily, and will have more on Harper and Peacock throughout the day.
And as you've probably already seen, Pete Kerzel has you covered from Washington today. Yep, just another globetrotting, bicoastal day at MASNSports.com.
Check back throughout the day and the week - we'll have plenty of All-Star Game coverage for you, and there are quite a few interesting Nationals subplots here this week. Former Nats manager Manny Acta is an assistant for the American League team, and Aaron Crow (remember him?) is in the AL bullpen. Joel Hanrahan is pitching for the National League, and of course, Tyler Clippard is here representing the Nationals. And there'll be plenty of talk, I'm sure, about the Nationals' recent managerial changes from people around the game.
it should be a fun week, and we're excited to have you with us.
