The Nationals have played 3 1/2 innings with the Astros at Minute Maid Park in Houston, and this looks like it could be one of those days where Livan Hernandez has a hard time because he's not getting as many called strikes as he typically needs.
He's allowed four hits and a walk in the first three innings, and the Astros have taken a 2-0 lead on the Nationals because of it. Hernandez has thrown 30 strikes in 50 pitches in the first three innings, but on several occasions, he's been forced to come over the plate after not getting a call.
Jayson Werth just doubled to left center in the top of the fourth inning - posting his first extra-base hit since June 28. He was on base three times in five plate appearances last night, so there are at least some signs of life from the struggling right fielder. But the Nationals stranded Werth at second in the top of the fourth, and haven't scored despite getting four hits off Brett Myers so far.
