Nationals recall Brian Bixler

The Nationals recalled infielder/outfielder Brian Bixler from Triple-A Syracuse this afternoon, filling the spot on their roster that opened when they traded Jerry Hairston Jr. to the Brewers earlier today. It will give them another versatile right-handed hitter who can play multiple positions, but it still seems like they'd like to do something with their center field situation this weekend.

They can get by with Rick Ankiel for now, and they could recall Roger Bernadina, but if the 27-year-old hasn't figured things out with a year and a half in the majors, it doesn't seem like 10 days at Syracuse will fix the problem. The guess here is the Nationals make a move - or do everything they can - to acquire a center fielder by the end of the weekend.
