Offense struggling against Braves' Lowe, down 3-0 (Nats lose 3-1)

John Lannan hasn't pitched poorly tonight against the Braves, but Derek Lowe has just been better against the Nationals.

After breaking out for nine runs against Jair Jurrjens last night, Washington has been largely shut down by Atlanta's starter. The Nats have mustered two hits, both from leadoff man Ian Desmond, and two walks.

Lannan has given up home runs to Lowe and Braves third baseman Chipper Jones.

Atlanta currently leads 3-0.

Update: Naturally, right after I finished this entry, Michael Morse took Lowe deep to get Washington on the board. The Nationals now trail 3-1.

Update II: Craig Kimbrel came in for the save in the ninth inning and set down the Nationals in order. Kimbrel earned his 41st save of the season, a rookie record.
