Nationals manager Davey Johnson is likely to spend much of the month giving Michael Morse a test run in left field and Jayson Werth a look in center field. That's probably fine, because two of his other outfielders aren't healthy enough to command playing time right now, anyway.
Roger Bernadina is still unable to hold a bat after diving for a ball last week and scraping his left hand badly on his landing. And Laynce Nix, who has been playing with a strained groin since Sept. 1, is still unable to play a full game; he can pinch hit, and did so yesterday, but he isn't able to run effectively.
"Somewhere in there, I've got a complete player," Johnson joked.
