Nationals announce instructional league roster

The Nationals announced their roster for the fall instructional league this afternoon, sending some of their top prospects to Viera, Fla., for additional work over the next two months.

All five of the picks the Nationals signed at the Aug. 15 deadline - third baseman Anthony Rendon, right-hander Alex Meyer, center fielder Brian Goodwin, left-hander Matt Purke and left-hander Kylin Turnbull - will play for the team. A.J. Cole and Robbie Ray, two of the pitchers the Nationals signed at last year's deadline to lock up draft picks, will also play for the team. So will Raudy Read, the highly-touted 17-year-old catcher the Nationals signed out of the Dominican Republic this year.
