Three innings into tonight's game against the Marlins, John Lannan's chances of getting his 10th win this season once again appear remote. But unlike previous years, where Lannan has made solid starts but failed to get run support, he's got nobody to blame but himself tonight.
He's walked three hitters in four innings, and has given up seven hits in that time. The left-hander has been missing spots with his fastball all night, and against the Marlins in Nationals Park, that usually doesn't lead to good results. Florida is up 3-0 in the fourth inning.
Lannan has already thrown 68 pitches in four innings, and the Nationals haven't done much against Javier Vazquez, getting just two hits in the first three innings. They'll need Lannan to settle down if they want to come back tonight.
