Nationals lead Marlins 3-2

MIAMI - We're in the top of the fifth inning here at Sun Life Stadium, and the Nationals have nudged ahead of the Marlins on a pair of hard grounders through the Florida infield. The Nationals lead 3-2, with Tommy Milone having settled down in the fourth after a rocky second and third inning.

Milone has thrown 68 pitches so far, but that's in part because he's struck out four batters. The left-hander's fastball is averaging 87-88 mph, but he's gotten seven swings and misses so far.

Ian Desmond shot an RBI double past Gaby Sanchez in the fourth inning, and scored on Rick Ankiel's grounder up the middle. The worn-out grass and infield are playing fast here, despite all the rain from earlier today, and so far the Nationals have taken advantage. We'll see if Milone can ride that to his third win of the year.
