Werth error in fifth puts Nats in 2-0 hole against Mets (Nats win 3-2)

Righty Chien-Ming Wang has scattered nine hits in the first five innings tonight against the New York Mets. For the first four innings, that was fine.

In the fifth inning, the Mets got four hits, including a run-scoring single by Lucas Duda. Jayson Werth bobbled Duda's single in right field allowing a second runner, Ruben Tejada, to score from first base to put the Nationals in a 2-0 hole.

The deficit would be worse except center fielder Rick Ankiel threw out Josh Thole trying to score on Tejada's single.

In the sixth, the Nationals trail the Mets 2-0.

Update: The Nationals came back in the top half of the sixth to close in on the Mets. An Ankiel double scored Ian Desmond to get the Nationals on the board against Mets starter Dillon Gee.

Two batters later, Michael Morse knocked in Ankiel with a double to center field.

Gee is out of the game with the bases loaded and the Mets are bringing in Pedro Beato.

Update II: Ryan Zimmerman put the Nationals ahead in the seventh inning with a single. The hit scored pitcher Craig Stammen.

Update III: Drew Storen allowed two base runners in the ninth inning, but he shut the door on the Mets. The Nationals won the second game of the series 3-2.
